Founded in 1967, Amnesty International Finland (Amnestyn Suomen osasto) is the Finnish branch of the global human rights movement Amnesty International. It focuses on both global and national human rights issues, such as asylum and refugee rights, equality, and freedom of expression. The Finnish branch engages thousands of volunteers and supporters through campaigns, education, and advocacy to promote human rights in Finland and beyond.

My work with Amnesty International’s Finland branch stretches back many years and across several phases of their digital presence. I’ve been involved in multiple iterations of their website, along with building components, supporting SEO and analytics, and collaborating with other vendors to deliver key integrations such as donation and petition flows.

Over time, my involvement with Amnesty grew into more than just a series of projects and tasks. I became closely familiar with their needs, goals, and ways of working, and in many ways I felt like an extension of their team. In turn, they knew they could rely on me to be there when support, development, or technical problem-solving was needed.
